Syllabus information and reading lists
Our syllabus & reading lists will provide you with a complete overview of the content and structure of your CIM qualification, together with a list of core and supplementary reading texts.
Each unit has a Recommended Reading list that includes “core texts’ and “further reading’. You should use at least one of the core books on a regular basis, and as you progress up the levels of the qualifications, it is expected that you will read more and more widely around the topics that are discussed and not just from text books but from journals and news articles as well. However, be selective about your reading; it is not necessary to read most texts from cover to cover – dip in an out of a range of books, reading relevant sections as you go.
The syllabus & reading lists contain a summary of the qualification unit’s characteristics, overarching learning outcomes and the mark weighting that has been allocated to each – a good indicator of how much time to spent on each topic.
